6/23/18 – DeKalb, IL | Goaltender Stephen Thulin has committed to NIU Hockey for the 2018-2019 season. Thulin will be going to NIU for his master’s in Business Administration and Sport Management.
The North Reading, MA native previously played for the University of Connecticut’s NCAA DI team.
Thulin chose to attend NIU for the opportunity to pursue a dual master’s degree while playing hockey. He also hopes to help NIU Hockey grow as an organization on and off the ice.
“I want to help bring the program to the next level,” Thulin said. “I think that working hard as a team will bring us success.”
The 6’3”, 185 lbs. netminder considers himself a hardworking, devoted, passionate and dedicated player who models his game after Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Scott Darling.
“His drive and never quit attitude has been inspiring to watch,” Thulin said.
The 25-year-old’s greatest accomplishment in his hockey career so far was his first NCAA DI victory.
“It was rewarding to be able to help the team win after all the hard work I put into making it that far,” Thulin said.
During his first season with the Huskies, Thulin hopes to help the organization be successful night in and night out.
“I hope to help give NIU Hockey a chance to win every night,” Thulin said.
