Three Huskies players set to participate in All-Star Challenge

3/30/17 – DeKalb, IL | Three DII Huskies have been chosen to represent the MACHA team at the ACHA All-Star Challenge: senior forward Tyler Hilton, junior forward Eric Svejda and senior goaltender JoJo Durrbeck.

The festivities run from April 7 to April 9 at Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, PA, which is a suburb of Philadelphia.

The Huskies and the MACHA team will play in two games on Friday and two games on Saturday and then will participate in a fifth game on Sunday based off of their previous results.

“I am proud to have three players represent NIU as part of the MACHA,” Huskies general manager Ian Kalanges said. “These are three players who since coming to NIU have made an impact to the organization and will all have a great impact on the team over that weekend.”

Kalanges is also serving as the general manager of the MACHA team and as an associate coach.

Hilton led the DII Huskies in points this season as he racked up 33 points (15 G, 18 A) in 36 games. The Elburn, IL native also posted three power play goals and a game winning goal during the 2016-17 campaign.

Svejda finished second in scoring for the Huskies as he posted 30 points (12 G, 18 A) in 35 games. The Bolingbrook, IL native also potted 2 power play markers, a shorthanded tally and a game winning goal on the year.

Durrbeck led the Huskies’ netminders with a 90.10% save percentage and a 4.52 goals against average in 18 games played. The Warrenville, IL native also posted an 8-9-0-1-0 record on the season.
