On Friday night in Peoria, the Huskies fell behind early 2-0 and had to try and play catch up the rest of the game. The Huskies only 2 goals came from Dave Brienzo and Mike Sible. In net, making his first collegiate start was Freshman Ryan Wozny. Despite the outcome, Wozny did play solid in net. Senior forward John Lyne said, “Four of their goals were like flukes. It was almost like the worst possible bounces had to come when Ryan has his first start.”
The Saturday evening showdown saw the Huskies play to their ability. With a shut-out on the Braves, and dominating in every aspect of the game. The Huskies pounded in 5 goals. Scoring his first collegiate goal was Pat Giannini. Mike Sible had a goal and a helper while Dave Brienzo and Matt Kieffer both had a goal and 2 assists on the night. Kenny Schatz got his first shut-out of the season, stopping all 9 shots he faced. Defensivley the Huskies were on top all weekend, only allowing 21 shots in the two games.
The Huskies now have their final 2 home regular season games of the season this weekend, as they will take on the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Cougars on Friday at 9pm and Saturday at 3pm.
