8/15/2012 – Dekalb, IL– NIU Hockey is excited to announce that all 33 regular season NIU DII games, for the 2012-2013 season, will be televised on They are also thrilled to welcome aboard Scott Swartz as the play-by-play voice of the Huskies.

Swartz, a big hockey fan himself and a teacher, has enjoyed being a public address announcer for various High School sports throughout the past decade. But as he put it, “I always had in the back of my mind, to be play-by-play broadcaster. It’s a dream of mine”.

He began looking for broadcasting positions and came upon the DuPage Hounds of the Midwest Collegiate League. It was after this past season with The Hounds, which confirmed that that broadcasting was what he wanted to do.

NIU Hockey GM Ian Kalangas is very excited to have the ability to show NIU Hockey to fans and students even if they are unable to make it out to the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

“I feel this will be great, that we can now showcase our top team over the internet to potential fans and recruits not only in the Chicagoland area but now anywhere. This will help add a new fan base to the NIU Hockey program. It’s also great for the players’ friends and families to be able to see the games when the team is on the road.”

The DII Huskies season will begin play against DePaul University on September 21st at the Northshore Ice Arena in Northbrook Illinois.

You can watch that game along with all other games this season live on
