4/20/17 – DeKalb, IL | Goaltender Ethan Koncor has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2017 and to NIU Hockey for the 2017-18 season.

Koncor posted a .899 save percentage with the Chicago Blues’ midget major team in 2016-17.

The Peru, IL native chose to go to school at NIU for two main reasons.

“I chose to commit to NIU because they have a great hockey and teaching program,” the physical education major said.

The 17-year-old has a team-oriented mentality.

“I try to be a team player and a leader every time I’m on the ice,” Koncor said.

The 6’0, 155 lbs. goaltender brings a decorated history to the NIU Hockey organization.

“My greatest accomplishment in hockey has been being privileged enough to play with great teams and winning four championships out of the five years I have been a goaltender,” Koncor said.

Koncor has a few goals to achieve for his future time with NIU Hockey.

“I hope to just get better as a player, meet new people and hopefully continue to play after college,” Koncor said.
