4/24/17 – DeKalb, IL | Forward Nick Treiber has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2017 and to NIU Hockey for the 2017-18 season.
Treiber last posted 96 points (54 G, 42 A) in 56 games for the Leafs midget major team.
The Algonquin, IL native chose to attend NIU for multiple reasons.
“The tuition is low, the business school has a great reputation and I get to play hockey!” the accounting major said. “What more can you ask for?”
The 21-year-old’s style of play resembles one of the Chicago Blackhawks’ 20-goal-scorers from this season.
“[I’m a] skilled power forward, kind of like Richard Panik,” Treiber said.
The 5’11”, 195 lbs. forward is looking to continually improve his game and assist the Huskies in any way he can during his time with the NIU Hockey organization.
“I want to improve my mind for the game, fine tune my skills and hopefully help the team in any way I can,” Treiber said.
