6/20/17 – DeKalb, IL | Defenseman Robert Apter has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2017 and to NIU Hockey for the 2017-18 season.
The Orland Park, IL native posted 28 points (9 G, 19 A) in 40 games for the Blues midget major team last season.
The business major is a two-way defenseman that models his game after Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The 17-year-old Apter hopes to do a lot of, “winning,” during his future time with NIU Hockey.
Winning was a part of the 5’10”, 140 lbs. blueliner’s greatest accomplishment thus far in his hockey career.
“Winning the NIHL championship as a squirt [has been my greatest accomplishment in hockey so far],” Apter said.
