1/15/2013 – Dekalb, IL – Hopes were high for the D3 Huskies as they took on the Missouri State University Ice Bears. Coming off a lopsided victory over Wheaton College going into Winter Break and the addition of new players, the scene was set for the Huskies to start the year off right.

That unfortunately was not to be the case as the Huskies fell to the Ice Bears 12-2 on Friday which could be partially blamed on a 10:20pm start due to the length of the D2 game before. However, one bright spot was the play of new Huskie forward Brett Freitag, who would notch his first goal at the 3:19 mark of the 2nd period with help from JC Weems.

Saturday would not fare much better as the Huskies were dominated by the Ice Bears by the score 10-0. It was a game that featured a parade of Huskie penalties, including two misconducts that made the home penalty box, for a time, a very crowded place.

The D3 Huskies will have their final home games of the season this upcoming weekend against Augustana College with a 7:30pm Friday start time and a 1:00pm start time on Saturday.
