11/19/2012 – Dekalb, IL – It was quite the successful weekend for NIU Hockey as both hockey teams were victorious this weekend in some memorable affairs. The D2 Huskies faced off against their in-state rivals from Charleston, the Eastern Illinois University Panthers, at the Fox Valley Ice Arena Friday night. However, undeterred by the physical played the Huskies capitalized on the chances they were given to them by scoring three goals on the power play from Nick Remley, Mike Hansen, and Joe Boris. The Panthers hung around tying the game up late in the third period, forcing overtime, when the Huskies really dictated the pace of play. Troy Hickey buried a goal past EIU goaltender Andrew Teske for a 5-4 Huskies win.

However, cooler heads prevailed and there was no score at the end of the first period. EIU notched the first tally at the 7:16 mark of the second period.
