11/13/2012 – Dekalb, IL – The D2 Huskies began their weekend with a big 7-1 win on Friday night over the UW-Madison Badgers. The Huskies were led by Mike Hansen, who had a hat trick, and Joe Boris and Brian Pickett, who helped out with 4 points of their own each. Mark Greenberg also was in the action on the night with his team leading 10th goal of the year.
Greenberg was asked if anything has changed to help his offensive output this season. “Because I am one of the older guys, I have more confidence and I have great line mates who get me the puck. We have really good chemistry”.
However, Saturday didn’t fare as well for the Huskies as they were stifled by the #14 Robert Morris University by a score of 4-1. Rob Bock had the lone goal in the game.
To close out the weekend, the Huskies dropped back to back games for the first time all year by losing to #5 Illinois State University losing 3-2. Bright spots in the game coming from Nick Remley collecting his fifth point of the weekend and Brian Pickett scoring a nice wrap around goal.
Greenberg was asked how he felt about the weekend as a whole. “We played pretty well the first game against Wisconsin but then on Saturday we didn’t really come to play. It was a really hard loss to a team ranked lower than us. (However) on Sunday, even though we lost, it was still a good outcome because they (ISU) are a really good ranked team, which gave us some confidence.”
The D2 Huskies are back home this upcoming weekend for the first time since late September as they will face their rivals from downstate Charleston, the Eastern Illinois University Panthers . The puck drops Friday night at 7:30pm and Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm. Both games will be available on the NIU Hockey Ustream page at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/niu-hockey
