5/4/2018 – DeKalb, IL | Forward Brandon Ledyard has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2018 and to NIU Hockey for the 2018-2019 season.
Ledyard posted 32 points (19 G, 13 A) in 26 games played in his last season with Mona Shores High School.
The Lindenhurst, IL native chose to attend NIU for multiple reasons.
“I liked the campus,” the 18-year-old said. “I liked how everybody treated me. They were very welcoming, very friendly. It was a good feel.”
The 5’11”, 174 lbs. forward considers himself to be playmaker and models his game after Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews.
The computer science major’s greatest accomplishment in hockey happened during his senior year of high school as he led his last team into the playoffs. That year, Ledyard was also named to the All-State, All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.
Ledyard hopes to help the Huskies have a winning season in his first year in an NIU sweater.
“I’d like to be able to be a part of the team goals that we set and be a part of how the organization grows itself,” Ledyard said. “It’d be fun to be a part of, witness and experience.”
