6/23/18 – DeKalb, IL | Forward Mike Jones has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2018 and to NIU Hockey for the 2018-2019 season.
Jones previously played for Glenbard West High School and chose NIU for a couple reasons.
“I picked NIU because my dad went there and my house has been big Huskies fans my whole life,” the physical therapy major said.
The 5’11”, 150 lbs. forward considers himself to be a grinder and an energizer on the ice and models his game after Nashville Predators forward Ryan Hartman.
The Carol Stream native’s greatest accomplishment in his hockey career so far was when his team once went undefeated for the entirety of a regular season.
The 18-year-old has a few goals for his first season with the Huskies.
“I hope to make myself a better hockey player and make a lot of good friends,” Jones said.
