A tough Northern Michigan squad, who has recieved votes in the Central Rankings came to town this weekend to play your NIU Huskies.  The Huskies determined to begin their second half of the season on a bright note defeated the Wildcats, in a 7-6 thriller.  The Huskies took control right away scoring first, and take a 5-3 lead going into the third period.  As the third period went underway the Wildcats pumped in two power-play goals to tie the game.  After a back and forth rest of the way, Senior defensman, Matt Kieffer went end-to-end and slid the puck past the NMU goaltender to give the Huskies a 6-5 lead.  Drew Clark would also add another Huskie goal in the late minutes.  Kenny Schatz got his team leading 7th victory in net for the Huskies, and Mike Sible and Peter Alfano both added 3 points each.

After Friday nights thriller, the teams faced again on Saturday, with another back and forth contest.  This time the Huskies would end up short as they would have some letdowns in the third period, losing the game 9-6.  Kyle Olbright got the start in net, but was pulled mid-way through the second period after allowing his seventh goal, and Alex Alessi went the rest of the way allowing only two goals that last half of the game.
NIU will travel to Bensenville this weekend to face the high-powered Eagles-Marroon of Robert Morris University, who are currently ranked #7 in the Central region.  Game times are: Friday Night at 8:45 pm, and Saturday Night at 9:30pm (After the Chicago Steel game)
