Huskies Hockey swept by #8 Missouri State


On Friday Night’s Greek night, Peter Alfano scored 30 seconds into the game to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The Bears were able to pop 3 unanswered goals in the first period. To the being of the second period, again 30 seconds in, Chris Bednarek scored a shorthanded goal to pull the Huskies within one. The second period was back-and-forth and the Bears led going into the third period was 4-2. The third period saw NIU give up some mental letdown, with the final score being in favor for MSU 7-2.

Saturday’s game saw NIU come out real strong only allowing MSU to one goal in the first period. Despite playing good defensivley the Bears played even better defnese allowing the Huskies to only 28 shots on goal in the game, and scoring none. The final score was 5-0 in favor of the Missouri State Bears. Brandon Colello started both games in net for the Huskies allowing 12 goals on 68 shots.

This weekend the NIU Huskies will play in the Robert Morris College Showcase tournament in Bensenville, IL at the Edge Ice Arena. They will play three games all against Robert Morris College-Chicago, Robert Morris College-Peoria, and a rematch with Robert Morris College-Springfield.
