5/7/2018 – DeKalb, IL | Goaltender Chad Dodero has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2018 and to NIU Hockey for the 2018-2019 season.
Dodero previously played for the Mid Valley Rampage in high school and committed to NIU for its engineering program.
“I always knew I wanted to be an engineering major,” the 18-year-old said. “When I found out there was a great engineering program at NIU, that set it off for me. I found out about the hockey team and everything worked out perfectly together.”
The 5’10”, 160 lbs. goalie considers himself an athletic and quick netminder and models his game after L.A. Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.
One of Dodero’s favorite moments in his hockey career occurred when he was a peewee.
“My team went undefeated and won the state championship,” the West Chicago, IL native said. “That was a fun year.”
Dodero has set a couple of goals for his first season with the Huskies.
“I do hope to be the starting goalie,” Dodero said. “That’s my main goal. I just want to help this team hopefully do better than last year.”
