10/26/17 – DeKalb, IL | The DIII Huskies were back on the road on October 20 and 21 as they traveled to Missouri to take on Washington University for two games.
Washington University dominated the weekend as they swept NIU by scores of 5-1 and 8-0.
During Friday night’s contest, Washington scored the first five goals, including a shorthanded and a power play marker to take a 5-0 lead late into the third period.
The Huskies got on the board with senior forward Danny Behles’ second goal of the season to cut the NIU deficit to four goals. Behles’ marker came on the power play while senior forwards Trevor Bondarowicz and Brian Kostecka picked up the helpers on the play.
Despite the Huskies’ late goal, the home team hung on for the 5-1 win. Sophomore goaltender Carl Lindgren made 50 saves on 55 shots in the contest. Washington University outshot NIU by a 55-23 margin.
Saturday’s game saw the home team pick up an 8-0 shutout of the Huskies for the sweep of the weekend. The DIII Huskies now have a record of 1-9-0-0.
The Huskies will be back on home ice this weekend. NIU will host Bradley University at 10:00 p.m. on October 27 and at 6:10 p.m. on October 28 at Leafs Ice Centre in West Dundee, IL.
