DIII Huskies Drop Two Games to the Wildcats

1/18/18 – DeKalb, IL | The DIII Huskies were swept by the Northwestern University Wildcats on January 12 and 13 at Centennial Ice Arena in Highland Park, IL.

The Wildcats dominated the contest on the scoresheet on Friday night as they picked up a 7-0 win over NIU.

The Huskies started off on the right foot during Saturday’s game as sophomore defenseman Eric Odolski tallied the first goal of the game, but the Wildcats tied the game and took a 2-1 lead before the period ended.

The home squad tallied three more goals in the contest to take a 5-1 lead in the third period.

Odolski tallied his second goal of the contest and his fifth of the season to cut the NIU deficit to 5-2 during the final frame. But the Wildcats would hang on for the victory for the sweep of the weekend.
The Wildcats outshot the Huskies by a 56-31 margin. The DIII Huskies now have a 7-16-0-0 record on the 2017-2018 campaign.

The Huskies will face-off against Wheaton College in a home-and-home series for two MACHA Conference games the next time they take the ice. At 10:20 p.m. on January 19, the Huskies will visit Wheaton at Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva. At 6:10 p.m. on January 20, the Huskies will host Wheaton at Leafs Ice Centre in West Dundee.
