DIII Huskies drop games against Missouri State

10/13/16 – DeKalb, IL | The DIII Huskies took on Missouri State University’s DIII team in two games on October 7 and 8 in Springfield, MO.

The Huskies were shutout in Friday’s contest against the Ice Bears as Missouri State won by a score of 10-0. Freshman goaltender Carl Lindgren made 85 saves on 95 shots in the contest.

The Huskies got on the scoreboard in Saturday’s contest against the Ice Bears, but Missouri State was able to pick up its second victory of the weekend by defeating NIU by a score of 7-2.

Freshman forward Colton Schaffter netted his sixth goal of the season in the second period of Saturday’s game. Sophomore defenseman Mike Neville and senior forward Aaron Lewis were credited with the helpers on the marker.

Freshman forward Matthew Nge also got NIU on the board on Saturday as he scored his first goal on the 2016-17 campaign. Schaffter was credited with the lone assist on the tally.

Junior goaltender Jake Tower made 59 saves on 66 shots in the contest.

The DIII Huskies are back on the road for their next set of games as they take on Dordt College. The two teams will face-off at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 and at 11 a.m. on October 15 at Vernon Arena in Sioux Center, IA.
