D1 Huskies pull a win against ISU

12/6/2021 Dekalb, IL The DI Huskies split the weekend against Illinois State University (ISU). Friday the Huskies pulled off a sharp win of 3-2 and Saturday struggled to maintain the net and lost 1-8. 

Friday, the Huskies used their defense to their best advantage when Hunter Wahl found the back of the net at 13:28 in the second period. This allowed the Huskies to tie the game 1-1. Minutes later, Austin Walny scored to pull the Huskies ahead. The Huskies started the third period up 2-1. 8 minutes into the third period Wahl scored his second goal of the night and was able to lead the Huskies win 3-2. Goaltender Ben Vutci was in the net for the win and saved 34 of 36 shots. 

Saturday, the Huskies struggled to find the back of the net and make it around Illinois State. The Huskies goal of the night was scored by Hunter Wahl at 5:54 in the first period. The final score for night two against ISU was 1-8. Goaltender Ben Vutci saved 25 of 33 shots on goal. 

The Huskies record for the 2021-2022 season is 2-13-2. The DI Huskies travel to Bensenville, Illinois in the new year to take on Roosevelt University for the first weekend games of 2022. January 6 and 7 games will be at the Edge Ice Arena at 7:15 pm.
