D1 Huskies Drop Pair to Missouri State

2/23/2020 Dekalb, IL – The D1 Huskies traveled to Springfield, Missouri to take on the Missouri State University Icebears. The Huskies dropped the weekend, Friday falling 5-3 and Saturday, 7-4.

Friday night, the Huskies battled through the first period but did not score until the second period. Freshman Hunter Wahl scored the first goal for the Huskies and was able to tie the game 1-1 with the Icebears. Before ending the second period Rodahn Evans, with the help of Kyle Meehan, scored the Huskies second goal to end the period 2-3. When coming back for the third period Wahl scored his second goal of the night and tied the game with the Icebears 3-3. Unfortunately, the Huskies were unable to score after tying the game and ended with a final of 3-5.

Goaltender Brian Eisele was in net saving 48 of 53 shots on goal.

Saturday, the Huskies were able to score first at seven minutes into the first period. Hunter Wahl found the back of the net to give the Huskies a score of 1-0. Minutes later, Rodahn Evans got the Huskies up another goal to end the first period 2-0. Coming back into second period, the Icebears tied the game and Freshman Mason Ihrke pulled the Huskies ahead thirty seconds after the tie. Before ending the second period, Evans scored his second goal of the game but the Huskies were unable to maintain the lead to head into third with a score of 4-4. The Icebears took the lead in the third period for final of 4-7.

Goaltender Chad Dodero was in net saving 56 of 63 shots.

The Huskies will be on home ice for the last time this season February 28 and 29. Friday February 28 game time will be 7:50pm with a tribute to the Headway Foundation. Saturday February 29 is Senior Night and puck drop will be at 4:50pm. Both games will be held at Canlan Ice Sports West Dundee.
