4/27/2018 – DeKalb, IL | Forward Jarod Cheslock has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2018 and to NIU Hockey for the 2018-2019 season.
Cheslock posted 51 points (28 G, 23 A) and was a +29 in 40 games for the Carmel Icehounds in 2017-2018.
The Carmel, IN native chose to commit to the university because of its location.
“I chose to commit to NIU because it’s a good school that’s not too far from home and the hockey program is well-established,” the 17-year-old said.
The 5’7”, 170 lbs. forward considers himself a playmaker and models his game after Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin.
“I can move the puck up the ice, as well as finish in close,” Cheslock said.
The biology major’s greatest accomplishment in hockey so far happened two years ago.
“My favorite moment and accomplishment was scoring the game-winning goal in the 2016 state championship,” he said.
Cheslock hopes to become a leader this season with his new Huskies squad.
“I hope to make the top team and be a leader,” Cheslock said.
