4/18/17 – DeKalb, IL | Forward Kameron Vaca has committed to Northern Illinois University for the fall of 2017 and to NIU Hockey for the 2017-18 season.
Vaca posted 13 points (8 G, 5 A) for the Chicago Blues’ midget major team in 2016-17.
The Bolingbrook, IL native models his game after his favorite NHL player, Marian Hossa.
“[I’m a] very hard working player,” Vaca said. “[I have] a lot of motivation for hockey. I model my game after Marian Hossa. He works hard and doesn’t give up.”
The 6’0”, 160 lbs. forward chose NIU for two main reasons.
“[NIU has a] great engineering program and a great hockey program,” Vaca said.
One of the 18-year-old’s greatest accomplishments in hockey thus far is committing to going to Northern.
“My greatest accomplishment is committing to play hockey at NIU,” Vaca said. “I have always wanted to play college hockey.”
